This week (past two weeks) I decided to work on something different. I realized that shooting for the goal of painting portraits was a bit ambitious for my circumstances right now. I have realized that if I was not doing 5 courses and working part-time, that I could dedicate more of my time, attention, and focus on achieving this goal in the given timeframe. I have since decided to leave that be for now, and pursue smaller things that will hopefully lead up to the build-up of achieving that goal outside of the timeframe for this class. These past two weeks, I was working on the painting below. I realized now that I got so focused on this piece that I forgot to take progress photos! I find that I can get very wrapped up and almost too into my projects that I miss key steps of taking progress photos and reflect on what I have accomplished so far. I decided to follow a Bob Ross painting tutorial, as I was having a creative block. This means that I still wanted to create some art, but I couldn’t think of something entirely original. I found that this tutorial was good because I could still take my own direction with it, but the basic ideas and strategies were given to me. This was a very challenging piece, and it is actually incomplete as of right now, but I hope to add more details soon. Below is my version of the Bob Ross Painting “Mighty Mountain Lake.”

I decide to pursue this piece, and then use my version to create a digital graphic of it for the class reflection. I found it really neat to combine the two reflections for this week.
